Why I took a break from music – YCee

Nigerian singer Oludemilade Martin Alejo, popularly known as YCee, has opened up on his absence from the music scene for a few years.

During a recent livestream with steamer Cater Efe, the ‘Juice’ crooner revealed that he took a break from music to concentrate on personal development.

He explained that he went on a journey of self-discovery but has now returned to music.

“I have been on the mountain. I went on a journey of self-discovery. But I am back,” he said.

YCee also explained the lore behind his moniker “Omo Alhaji”, revealing that his dad is a Muslim even though he is not being a practicing Muslim.

The music star described his personal spiritual philosophy as being centered simply on “love”.

Before his hiatus, YCee dominated the Nigerian music industry with hits like ‘Jagaban’, ‘Jucie’, ‘Omo Alhaji’, and so many others.
