Osun 2026: ZLP’s Adesuyi Promises 10,000 Jobs Through Agriculture

Date:

The governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) for the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election, Engr. John Olufemi Adesuyi, has pledged to create 10,000 jobs through agriculture if elected governor.

Speaking during the News Point programme of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, in Osogbo, Adesuyi said agriculture offers the longest value chain capable of driving economic growth and creating employment opportunities for youths.

He said his administration would encourage youths and unemployed graduates to venture into poultry farming, piggery, cattle rearing and other agricultural enterprises, while attracting agro-processing companies to establish industries in the state.

According to him, agricultural produce such as cassava would be processed locally into finished products, including cassava pellets, to create jobs and add value instead of exporting raw produce.

The ZLP candidate also promised to strengthen security by involving traditional rulers and community leaders in intelligence gathering and community policing.

He said the proposed security framework would include training, communication equipment and an effective reporting system to enable residents to provide timely intelligence to security agencies.

Adesuyi further unveiled a technology-driven entrepreneurship initiative, which he described as “Technopreneurship,” aimed at equipping young people with digital skills and creating opportunities through small and medium-scale enterprises.

On education, he expressed concern over the shortage of teachers in public schools, the reliance on National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to teach in technical colleges and the inadequate computer facilities for computer-based examinations.

He also called for reforms in the healthcare sector, advocating affordable, accessible and quality healthcare services, particularly for low-income residents.

The governorship hopeful condemned vote-buying, describing it as a criminal act that undermines accountability and good governance.

He expressed confidence in the ZLP’s structure across the state, maintaining that electoral victory depends more on effective strategy, grassroots mobilisation and public acceptance than on financial strength or crowd size.

Adesuyi also defended the legal status of the Zenith Labour Party, insisting that it had fulfilled all constitutional requirements for recognition and remained focused on winning the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.
