Addressing the gathering, Mohammed said the consultation was aimed at ensuring the emergence of credible candidates capable of delivering victory for the party.

He noted that the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) had fixed August 17 for the elections, coinciding with the expiration of the tenure of the current local government councils.

The governor urged party leaders to allow serving councillors to seek another term, except those found to have performed below expectations.

On the position of local government chairmen, Mohammed said those serving a second term would be replaced, while discussions would be held on the fate of first-term chairmen.
