Done Deal: Former Flying Eagles Striker Joins Turkish Club Eyüpspor

Date:

Former Flying Eagles forward Ahmed Abdullahi has completed a permanent move to Turkish Super Lig side Eyüpspor from Premier League club Sunderland.

The 22-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Istanbul-based club, with the agreement including an option for a further year.

Sunderland Announce Departure

Sunderland confirmed his departure on their official website.

“Sunderland AFC can confirm Ahmed Abdullahi has joined Eyüpspor,” the club said.

“The Nigerian striker, who joined Sunderland from Belgian side Gent in August 2024, has put pen to paper on a permanent contract with the Turkish club.

“Everyone at Sunderland wishes Ahmed all the best as he continues his career in Turkey.”

Abdullahi Keen To Revive Career

Abdullahi joined Sunderland from Belgian outfit Gent in August 2024 but endured an injury-hit spell that prevented him from making a senior appearance for the Black Cats.

Despite his fitness setbacks, he was named in Sunderland’s matchday squads for Carabao Cup and FA Cup ties against Huddersfield Town and Port Vale last season.

The move to Eyüpspor presents Abdullahi with a fresh opportunity to revive his career and secure regular first-team football after a frustrating spell in England.
