Aiyedatiwa Meets Dangote To Advance Olokola Free Trade Zone Dev’t

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has held met with President and Founder of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, to advance discussions on the development of the Olokola Free Trade Zone (FTZ).

The meeting, which took place in Lagos on Saturday, forms part of ongoing engagements between the Ondo State Government and the Dangote Group aimed at transforming the Olokola Free Trade Zone into a major industrial and economic hub.

Speaking after the meeting, Governor Aiyedatiwa said the discussions focused on practical steps to fast-track the development of the FTZ by leveraging Ondo State’s strategic coastline, deep seaport potential and abundant natural resources.

According to the governor, the Olokola Free Trade Zone remains one of the flagship projects of his administration under the OUR EASE development agenda and is expected to attract significant local and foreign investments.

He noted that the project has the capacity to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs while positioning Ondo State as a leading industrial, maritime and investment destination in Nigeria.

“Alhaji Dangote is a visionary investor and a true patriot. Our conversation today centered on how we can partner to unlock the full economic potential of the zone for the benefit of our people, the Southwest region, and Nigeria at large,” Aiyedatiwa said.

The governor disclosed that both parties reviewed the progress made on the project and agreed on the next phase of implementation, including technical engagements, infrastructure planning and frameworks for increased private sector participation in the Free Trade Zone.

Aiyedatiwa expressed appreciation to Dangote for his continued interest in investing in Ondo State and his commitment to Nigeria’s industrialisation.

He reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to provide the necessary policy support, incentives and enabling business environment required to ensure the successful take-off of the Olokola Free Trade Zone project.
