Ex-rep wins APC rerun primary in Plateau
A former member of the House of Representatives, Dachung Bagos, has won the All Progressives Congress rerun primary for the Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency of Plateau State.
Bagos defeated Esther Simi Dusu in the exercise conducted across 11 wards on Wednesday, following a court order.
The High Court in Jos had nullified the previous primary election over alleged irregularities in 11 wards: Du, Shen, Zawan ‘B’, Turu, Fobur ‘A’, Fobur ‘B’, Jarawan Kogi, Maijuju/Doss, Federe, Shere East and Shere West.
Announcing the results on Thursday at the APC state secretariat, Kalwa House, Jos, the Chairman of the Rerun Electoral Committee, Simon Elisha, said Bagos polled 12,181 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Dusu, who scored 2,495 votes.
“The rerun was conducted in compliance with the court order and in line with the party’s guidelines to ensure transparency and fairness,” Elisha said.
With the declaration, Bagos, who previously represented the constituency in the House of Representatives, is set to fly the APC flag for the Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general election.
